West Ham are set to submit a new bid for Besiktas central midfielder Atiba Hutchinson as they are reportedly upping their previous bid for the 33-year-old Canadian from €1m to €2.5m.
Earlier, it was reported by Turkish source Takvim, quoted by InsideFutbol, that Besiktas were looking for £2 million from West Ham to sell Hutchinson in the summer. Should that be the case, West Ham’s €2.5 million bid comes in right around £2 million, matching Besiktas’ asking price.
Hutchinson was a key part of Besiktas’ Super Lig Championship season, playing both holding midfielder and occasionally at right back in his 34 Super Lig appearances. Hutchinson had the best passing accuracy of any Super Lig player last season.

Hutchinson is seen as a useful squad player, knowing Slaven Bilic well from the manager’s time at Besiktas in Istanbul. Following Alex Song’s departure from West Ham at the end of his loan from Barcelona, the Hammers are in need of cover in the midfield.
West Ham have already signed Håvard Nordtveit on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 25-year-old Norwegian international plays centre back and holding midfield, and will be an excellent addition to the squad with six Champions League appearances last season with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Hutchinson appeared in six Europa League matches last season with Besiktas as the Turkish Club failed to advance out of the Group Stages of the competition.
