According to the Express and Star, West Brom have put across their interest in Diafra Sakho, but face a battle from Sunderland after the striker signalled his intent to Slaven Bilic to leave the Hammers.
26-year-old Sakho has now been named as a wanted target by Tony Pulis at West Brom, following West Ham’s idea to set aside at least £30m to spend on a forward this summer.
David Gold and co. have been already busy this summer, trying to lure Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette to East London, but to no avail – yet.
It has also been reported that the Hammers have also shown an interest previously in Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca.
In search of regular playing time, Sakho has asked to leave the Hammers with fellow Premier League side Sunderland expressing an interest.
In front of goal, Sakho had a good season his first year, netting 12 times in just 26 appearances following his £3.5m from French side, Metz. However, last season was not as successful for Sakho after he netted just five times in the league and had a falling out with Slaven Bilic over playing time.
It appears the two sides will go their separate ways this summer, it’s just a matter of who comes closest to West Ham’s £15m valuation of the Senegalese international.
