West Ham have been looking into the possibility of signing Liverpool frontman Christian Benteke and are set to submit an initial bid of £24m for the Belgian, according to a report by Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror.

Since his £32m move to Anfield in the summer, Benteke has struggled to establish a regular first-team place and has managed just nine goals for the Reds this term.
David Sullivan, West Ham’s co-owner, apparently wants Benteke, who is currently being paid £120,000, to be the London club’s ‘statement of intent’.

Sullivan told the Mirror in March that the Irons would be interested in signing the ex-Aston Villa striker if he were to lower his wage demands.
Manager Slaven Bilic is not concerned by Benteke’s lack of decisiveness in front of goal this season and is also confident that the former Genk man will be able to fit into his style of play next season.

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, English winger Theo Walcott and Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi have also been touted as potential targets for the summer.
