West Ham’s dream of ending Slaven Bilic’s first season in charge by winning the FA Cup is over.
The Hammers lost 2-1 in the quarter-final replay with Manchester United, the last cup-tie that will be played at Upton Park.
Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini put Louis van Gaal’s side 2-0 up and despite pulling one goal back thanks to a brave header by James Tomkins, West Ham couldn’t find a second goal to take the tie to extra-time.
Going into the game, most West Ham fans were confident of beating Man united and advancing to a semi-final at Wembley against Everton.
However, for whatever reason, the team didn’t play to their usual high standards and Van Gaal’s side deserved their lead.
The Hammers did look more dangerous late into the second half but they couldn’t quite do enough to beat the excellent David De Gea twice.
