Dimitri Payet has signed on to be a West Ham player until 2021 with a new long-term deal with the club, West Ham confirms.
The Frenchman only arrived over the summer from Marseille for £10.75 million. According to the Daily Mail, the contract is worth up to £125,000-per-week over five-and-a-half-years, making it the most lucrative deal in West Ham history.
Payet’s immediate impact for the Hammers, including six goals and six assists in the Premier League, had attracted an unnamed Chinese club to the player, reportedly ready to offer £38 million for the player. However, this deal confirms the 28-year-old’s West Ham future.

Payet averages 3.7 key passes a match, as seen with his last minute assist to Angelo Ogbonna from a free kick on Tuesday to beat Liverpool in the FA Cup Fourth Round. Earlier in that game, he struck the post from a free kick.
Payet has become an immediate fans’ favourite at the Boleyn Ground so early in his time there and has gained a reputation as one of the most prolific creative attacking players in the Premier League.
