West Ham midfielder ruled out of Chelsea clash

Alex Song has been officially ruled out for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Chelsea. But it’s not all bad news as he targets the Everton match next month to make his second debut for the London side.

When the Hammers signed the Cameroon midfielder in the summer, he was already injured and they knew he’d take a couple of months to fully recover from his ankle injury. West Ham boss, Slaven Bilic, was hoping he’d have Song at his disposal for the game against the Champions but he’ll be lucky to even have him available for next week’s fixture with Watford, which looks a massive doubt.

The international break comes after these two matches which will possibly give the 28-year-old a chance to represent the Hammers’ under-21 side and then be match fit for two big games against Everton and Tottenham.

The ex-Arsenal holding midfielder was a massive influence when he was signed on loan from Spanish giants, Barcelona, last season and the West Ham fans will hoping to see him pulling on the Claret and Blue sooner rather than later.

Another big loss for this weekend’s game is that of captain, Winston Reid, the central defender has been one of West Ham’s best players putting in match-winning performances against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal on the road.
