SC Braga and Maritimo played on Monday night in the Portugese league in front of a packed crowd. A crowd including officials from Barcelona and West Ham United, according to claims from Portugese media.
The game, which Braga won 5-1, included scouts from all over Europe from as far as Holland, Germany and Greece, but the biggest talking point was that scouts representing the East London and the Catalan club were present, according to Portugese news outlet O Jogo.
Although no one is sure who the player in question was, the star player and the most likely to be the mystery man is Rafa Silva, Braga’s Portugese international. The 24 year old midfielder is known in England and has aroused the attention of clubs such as Liverpool and Southampton. The highly rated player can play in central midfield and on the wing.
This is not the first time O Jogo has reported the Hammers at a Portugese league game this week. Porto’s victory against Benfica last Sunday was looked on by West Ham scouts, whereas Barcelona were also scouting the Sporting Lisbon game. In both cases the player who is being scouted is not yet known.
