West Ham’s summer target Andrea Ranocchia looks set to be offloaded by Inter Milan when the transfer window reopens in January.
Reports in Italy suggest that Ranocchia is now surplus to requirements at the San Siro after he was left out of the Milan derby last Sunday. Manager Roberto Mancini selected former Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medal at the centre of defence, as Vidic and Miranda were also out injured.
West Ham were interested in Ranocchia during the summer transfer window and signed fellow Italian international defender Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus.
27 year-old Ranocchia was Inter Milan captain prior to Roberto Mancini’s return to the Serie A giants. The Italian defender has made 119 appearances for Inter Milan and has 20 caps for the national side.
Reports from Milan suggest that Ranocchia only remained at the San Siro as defensive cover following an injury to Nemanja Vidic. The former Manchester United captain was ruled out for 6 months in August after having an operation on a hernia.
