David Gold has provided some insight on the injury status of Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia, the ailments of whom have led to concerns that West Ham’s striking options weren’t strong enough. The Hammers were linked with Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez and Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor all summer, yet landed neither.
However, the worries about that could be subsided after David Gold assured fans via his Twitter account that the injury status of both players is progressing well. Andy Carroll hasn’t appeared for The Hammers since mid-February with an injury, and managed to delay his comeback recently when he hurt his ankle putting on a pair of trousers.
However, Gold reckons that Carroll could be back for West Ham’s next game, against his old club Newcastle, which is the first game back after the international break.
He is working hard and he is determined. I am hopeful he will be on the bench. dg https://t.co/xj5OBFM1i7 — David Gold (@davidgold) September 3, 2015
Valencia, however, has been out since just last month, after he got injured in the Europa League tie against Astra at Upton Park. However, Gold says he’s been told by the Ecuadorian that he’ll be back next month.
I saw Valencia today working very hard in the Gym. He told me he will be back in October. dg https://t.co/S4l5VUWo5Y — David Gold (@davidgold) September 3, 2015
Between them, Carroll and Valencia netted 9 goals in the Premier League last year, and both will be hoping to better their totals – 5 and 4 respectively – when they return from their injuries.
