West Ham United have finally seen their efforts to sign Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest rewarded, after they agreed a £7 million deal for the winger, according to the Nottingham Post. The player’s only been at the club since last summer, following his £1.5 million move from Sheffield Wednesday, but his impact has earned him a move to the Premier League and a £5.5m increase in value.
The ex-Reading player is now expected to travel down to London to negotiate with the top-flight team, ahead of a potential transfer to the Premier League. If he signs, The Hammers will have beaten off heavy interest from West Bromwich Albion in the player, although they never looked close to signing him after having a £4 million bid turned down earlier in the summer.

The winger was Forest’s joint-top scorer in all competitions last season when he netted 15 times, with 14 of those goals coming in the Championship. He’s already their top scorer in the league and overall this campaign, having scored 2 and 4 respectively. This turnaround is somewhat impressive, given he left Sheffield Wednesday as somewhat of an outcast, having lost his place in the squad.
Previous reports had suggested Matt Jarvis could be included in the trade as a potential loan deal, but he doesn’t want the move so it’s likely to be all cash.
