West Ham have made a fresh attempt to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza, but face a battle from Marseille, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Serie A champions are determined to hold onto Zaza, who only joined Juventus earlier this summer for €15m, after Fernando Llorente was allowed to join Sevilla, but the deal isn’t dead in the water yet.
It is believed Zaza wants regular football in order to secure a place in Italy’s Euro 2016 squad, and the Turin club will be prepared to let him leave in January if he does n’t see much action.
West Ham are determined to bring in a new striker and made another attempt to sign the former Sassuolo forward on Friday, but their approach was rebuffed by the Turin giants.
Marseille are also said to be interested in the services of Zaza, who will be competing with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Mario Mandzukic and Paolo Dybala for game-time at Juve.
Zaza scored 12 goals in 31 appearances in Serie A last season, and has five caps for Italy.
