West Ham United are likely to complete their next signing on Sunday, after the Evening Standard reported they’re extremely close to completing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a season-long loan deal. The Hammers have spent much of the summer chasing the Togolese, and with just a few days of the transfer window left they might finally get their man.
The striker has been deemed an outcast at Tottenham since his move to the club in 2011 (initially a loan, before making the move permanent a year later), which makes his £100,000 per week wages a bad situation for Daniel Levy. Adebayor’s spent much of the summer being linked with moves to Aston Villa and West Ham, but hadn’t managed to do anything up to now.

While The Hammers will pick up some of the tab for the Togolese striker’s wages, Tottenham will still pay a portion of it, until his contract expires next summer and they can be free of the burden of the 31-year-old.
Personal terms still need to be agreed and a medical still needs to be had, but that should all be done by Sunday, allowing the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker to complete a move to Upton Park ahead of the deadline. Adebayor’s played 92 times in the Premier League since his arrival at White Hart Lane four years ago, scoring 18 times.
