Sunderland are looking to bring in former West Ham captain Kevin Nolan, according to the Daily Mirror. Nolan left West Ham by mutual consent a few days ago in the hope of seeking regular football elsewhere.
The 33-year-old joined the Irons in 2011 from Newcastle and scored 31 goals in 157 appearances in his four years at the club.
He also helped the club win promotion back to the Premier League in his first season, and is now attracting interest from Dick Advocaat, who recently saw a move for Napoli midfielder Jonathan De Guzman collapse.

Sunderland have been struggling badly in the embryonic stages of the season and are in dire need of reinforcements, although a deal to bring Nolan to the Stadium of Light could prove tricky, due to his ties with their arch-rivals, Newcastle United.
The 33-year-old midfielder has a wealth of Premier League experience but began to fall down the pecking order at Upton Park last season, and the arrival of Dimitri Payet did nothing to help his chances of regular football in East London.
