Alessandro Matri has confirmed to West Ham United that he wants to complete a move to the club this summer, away from AC Milan, says GianlucaDiMarzio.com. The Italian’s transfer could spell the end of The Hammers’ summer-long search for a striker, a search which has previously seen interest in Emmanuel Adebayor of Tottenham and Javier Hernandez of Manchester United.
Matri moved to Milan in the summer of 2013 from Juventus, but failed to make any sort of impression at the club, playing just 15 times in the league, scoring once.
He’s since had loan spells at Fiorentina, Genoa and back to his previous employers Juve last season, but he’s not featured regularly for any of them.
However, he could now be set to make his first move outside of Italy, having allegedly given the go-ahead on a move. Negotiations should now be swift, and the 4-time Serie A winner should be wearing a Hammers shirt by September 1st.
