West Ham may have been linked with Eduardo Vargas this summer, but TuttoMercatoWeb, quoting Radio Crc in Chile, says they could have some competition for his signature from the Bundesliga, with both Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart keen to bring in the striker from Napoli. However, he does seem set for a move to Hoffenheim.
Vargas moved to Napoli in January 2012, but since then has failed to really show what he can do, and he’s spent more time out on loan than he has in Naples, with spells at Gremio, Valencia and most recently Queens Park Rangers, although he couldn’t save them from relegation.
And Vargas could have ended that with a move to West Ham, although Dortmund and Stuttgart are difficult prospects to turn down; Dortmund especially so, even with their poor campaign last year. However, the Chilean seems set for a move to Hoffenheim, who finished 8th in the Bundesliga last season.
Vargas was extremely influential in Chile’s Copa America triumph this summer, scoring four goals, including the one to send his country into the final of the competition. He ended the tournament as joint-top scorer, which attracted the attention of clubs like the Hammers and clubs in Germany.
