Here Is The City report that West Ham are edging ever closer in their bid to sign former Queens Park Rangers striker Eduardo Vargas, who currently plays for Serie A side Napoli.
Vargas is wanted by the Hammers on loan for the 2015/16 season, and Italian media publication Tutto Mercato Web have suggested that the striker has stopped training with his current club in order to push the deal through.
Vargas spent last season on loan at QPR, who ultimately got relegated, but it meant that the Chilean international got some Premier League experience under his belt.
And with Irons boss Slaven Bilic looking for a back-up for Diafra Sakho, this deal could potentially go hand in hand. Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll are both on the sidelines, so a back-up for Sakho is quite a priority. The 25-year-old is no longer wanted at Napoli, and the Hammers have since reportedly expressed their interest.
It’s important to state that Bilic has no intention of adding a view to a permanent deal for Vargas, if the loan goes through because he’s only being used as temporary back-up. Both clubs are close to agreeing a deal, and it could be confirmed in the next few days.
