Two London clubs could be set to battle it out for 17-year-old Dagenham and Redbridge striker Jodi Jones, who’s impressed a lot playing for the League Two side, and has attracted attentions of clubs higher up the league ladder.
The Daily Mirror say West Ham have already made a bid for him but are likely to face a challenge from Charlton Athletic for his services, who’ve also made a bid.
However, the advantage The Hammers have is that their bid is significantly higher than The Addicks’, at around £250,000, whereas Charlton’s is £100,000, plus defender Ayo Obileye, who played 26 games for Dagenham on loan last season.
Clubs in the Championship are also keen on taking the youngster on trial, with big-spenders Sheffield Wednesday amongst them. However, if a permanent move away from the League Two side and into one of London’s bigger clubs arose, Jones is likely to choose it over moving far away.
Despite being just 17, Jones has made 10 appearances in league and cup competitions already for his club, with eight of those coming after his debut last season
