Diafra Sakho to stay in the team despite recent arrest

In his pre-match interview with the press for the game against Leicester, Slaven Bilic has stated that Diafra Sakho will not be dropped for the opening home game of the season against Claudio Ranieri’s men, despite his arrest for domestic assault.

The Senegalese striker, who was one of West Ham’s surprise stars last season, was arrested at his home in Essex on suspicion of common assault against a female on Thursday 6th August, 3 days before he started in the surprise 2-0 victory away at Arsenal.

Essex police confirmed that a 25-year-old man had been arrested on Thursday night – the day West Ham got knocked out of Europe by FC Astra – for “common assault, malicious communication and criminal damages”.

Sakho has been bailed out and is set to return to court next month.
