West Ham and Everton are interested in signing Genoa defender Sebastian De Maio, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The uncapped 28-year-old is eligible to play at international level for both France and Italy.
Roberto Martinez’s men would be a more likely option for De Maio, with the Hammers already bringing in the likes of Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang from the top tier of Italian football already this summer.
However, if the club were to offload the likes of Reece Burke and Doneil Henry on loan to lower leagues, then the centre-back could perhaps be a valuable addition to the squad. Winston Reid is currently suffering from an injury problem too.
De Maio joined Genoa from Brescia in the year of 2013, where he has scored two goals in 46 Serie A appearances for the club. The Toffees are desperately in need of a defender at Goodison Park, so it will be difficult to land the experienced man.
