West Ham United are set to miss out on the signing of Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, reports Brad Pinard of London 24. Having opted not to sign a new deal with the Foxes, the Argentine is currently a free agent and is looking for a new club to play his football with.
Premier League champions Chelsea are now one of the favourites to land the veteran, and Jose Mourinho has worked with Cambiasso previously, when he was in the hot seat at Italian side Inter Milan. Major League Soccer outfit Columbus Crew are also tipped to sign the 34-year-old, who has a wealth of footballing experience under his belt.
Last season at Leicester, he was instrumental in helping Nigel Pearson’s team avoid relegation to the Championship, and scored five goals from defensive midfield. Cambiasso has a plethora of silverware in his trophy cabinet, including a Champions League triumph with Inter Milan.
