West Ham may be forced to look elsewhere in their efforts to sign a striker this summer after being told Javier Hernandez is not for sale.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal hinted earlier in the week that Hernandez might be staying put at Old Trafford after revealing the Mexican was expected to join up with the squad on their pre-season tour later this month.
The 27-year-old is currently off the transfer list say ESPN, as United are sport of striker depth following the sale of Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce earlier in the transfer window.
Hernandez want’s more first-team football, and is unsure about whether he will get it at Manchester United, but enjoys the Premier League, and will reject a move to the MLS in order to stay, ESPN believe.
Recovering from a broken collarbone suffered during the offseason, Hernandez has some work to do to break back into the United team, but with one-year left on his contract, it’s unlikely that the player will stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.
It’s still not totally out of the question for United to sell Hernandez – provided they sign another striker this summer.
