West Ham want to sign defender Carl Jenkinson on a permanent deal, rather than take him on board for a consecutive loan spell.
The Mirror reports that the Hammers are interested in securing his services for the long term, as they hope to persuade Arsene Wenger’s team to allow this deal to happen.
With Arsenal wanting to offer him a new contract and Sunderland making a bid for the Englishman, the Irons will have to be on alert if they are to sign the right-back for the upcoming campaign.
Jenkinson reportedly prefers a move to London, so Slaven Bilic will remain hopeful of securing his signature.
The 23-year-old made 36 appearances under Sam Allardyce during the 2014/15 season, in which he also recorded two assists.
In addition to his single cap for the senior England side, Jenkinson has also just competed at the European U21 Championships in the Czech Republic.
