Spurs Set £10m Kaboul Price

West Ham’s chances of tempting Younes Kaboul from North to East London hit a snag this morning as Tottenham have ordered us to pay nothing less than a £10m transfer fee for the central defender, according to London 24 Sport.

Watford have also expressed interest in the 29 year-old but Tottenham’s demands seem to have put off both the Hornets and the Hammers. We tried to pinch the former French international defender from Spurs in January – amidst our defensive crisis – but Daniel Levy was unwilling to compromise on either Kaboul or Emmanuel Adebayor.

Younes Kaboul is Tottenham’s club captain but his game time has become increasingly limited in the past two seasons.

Overall, going through with this purchase – even at half the price – would not be a worthwhile signing. When all fit, Kaboul would be either third or fourth choice centre back and he does not fit David Sullivan’s criterion for players under 27. West Ham are better off pursuing younger and cheaper alternatives, especially with Tottenham insisting on such a steep asking price.
