West Ham target Pedro Obiang could be set for a move to Italian giants AC Milan after the player’s agent met with representatives of the club.
According to reports, the Hammers had an agreement with Sampdoria to sign the 23 year-old for roughly £4m, but with AC Milan looking to rebuild after a poor season, Obiang has emerged as a major target and could hijack the east London side’s move.
It is believed that a decision will be made by Obiang and his representatives on Tuesday, with an offer from West Ham already agreed, meaning the Spanish midfielder will have a choice between two clubs.
The former Atletico Madrid youth player moved to Sampdoria in 2010 after failing to grab the attention of the Spanish side’s first team management, but has been a star in midfield for the Italian side; making 34 appearances this season, scoring on three occasions and providing one assist.
Obiang is also capped for his native country Spain’s u21 side, but faces fierce competition to move into the first team national set up.
West Ham have tracked Obiang for over 12 months and have had previous bids rejected by Sampdoria, but the Hammers have finally struck a deal with the Italian side and it will now come down to the player’s preference.
