Ravel Morrison knows he is forever blowing bubbles – at least according to his Instagram page. The English midfielder and former West Ham player, before his contract was terminated in February 2015, is now without a club, although on a pre-contract agreement with Lazio.
The 22-year-old posted a photo of himself from his West Ham playing days, and had contact with Academy player Reece Oxford in the comments, saying “u want me back”.
While his record is not the most clean, including assault charges and a falling out with former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, there are fans who do want him back at Upton Park to play in-behind the strikers once more. In only 24 appearances for the east London club over three years, he scored five goals. However, one of those five will always be remembered by Hammers everywhere
It took nine seconds and eight touches to go 52 yards, beating two defenders, to chip in the most remarkable solo goal in recent memory for the Hammers in the 3-0 rout of Tottenham Hotspur in October of 2013. The unexpected play showed exactly what Morrison has in him if he is given the chance and has the motivation.
Many West Ham fans want Morrison back, littering the player’s comment section on Instagram with pleas for his return, remarking how with Allardyce gone, another chance in east London has come. No matter if Morrison stays abroad or returns to England to lead West Ham past Tottenham again, there will always be a fond memory of him as a magician in one of the most enjoyable matches under Allardyce. Of course, Italy is severely lacking Nathan’s Pie and Mash, so no wonder Ravel sat reminiscing over his time in east London.
As if anyone would get tired of seeing this goal over and over…
