Ex West ham United striker Demba Ba has backed Slaven Bilić to be a success if appointed as Sam Allardyce’s replacement.
Speaking to the Mirror, Ba who scored seven goals for the hammers in twelve games before leaving after West Ham’s relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2010/11 season, has said:
“We have a young team and he helps a lot. He is a good guy. He would be a good choice. If he comes here I think and I hope he is going to be successful.
“He seems like he is rough and rude on the sidelines but he is actually very soft and calm with the players. He would be like a confidant. He is very open and someone you can talk to.”
Bilić is seen as one of the favourites to take charge at West Ham this summer, with the recent conformation that he is set to leave Beşiktaş when his contract expires at the end of this season. Bilić lead his Beşiktaş side to a third place finish last season, finishing on 62 points and 17 league wins. The former Hammers player is available for hire, and is said to be interested in a return to the Premier League. He has yet to manage in England, but has proven himself in various spells abroad, with clubs such as Hajduk Split, Croatia, Lokomotiv Moscow and Beşiktaş.
The West Ham management are keen on hiring a manager who can move the club forward, playing attacking, entertaining football with experience of coaching in Europe. Bilić fulfills all these traits, having proven himself as a tactically accomplished coach who favours dynamic football, with a vast amount of experience in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Is Bilić the correct choice to be West Ham manager?
