West Ham are considering a move for former player Glen Johnson if they fail in their bid to sign Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal in the summer, says the Daily Mail.
The 30-year-old was a West Ham academy product, but left as a teenager to go join high-flying Chelsea, and never looked back, as he went on to become an England regular.
Currently at Liverpool, Johnson’s pricey contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and the Reds are ready to let him walk for free in order to sign a younger and cheaper alternative.
West Ham’s first choice would be to sign the 23-year-old Jenkinson from Arsenal, who has impressed this season whilst on loan, and Arsene Wenger is ready to let him go due to the emergence of Hector Bellerin at right-back.
However, in this love triangle of transfers, Liverpool want to sign Jenkinson as a replacement for the departing Johnson.
