# Scott Parker’s managerial record: What could West Ham be getting if he replaces Nuno

**Scott Parker is the frontrunner to replace Nuno Espírito Santo as West Ham United manager.**

Nuno was sacked on Tuesday morning, with the process to appoint his successor well underway.

Scott Parker has been out of work since he departed Burnley in April this year, after a defeat to Manchester City confirmed their relegation back to the EFL Championship.

Mark Noble will lead the Hammers into Wednesday’s clash against Cardiff City, with a further trip to Blackburn Rovers on the schedule for Saturday. That is the last club fixture before the November international break.

## Why is Scott Parker the favourite to replace Nuno at West Ham?

Scott Parker has built a strong reputation as a Championship promotion specialist, representing an obvious attraction for West Ham chiefs.

He has guided three different clubs out of the second tier at the first attempt, with a great opportunity to add a fourth given the squad he would be working with.

At Fulham, he took interim charge in February 2019 and was appointed permanently that summer. He led the side to promotion via the play-offs, after finishing fourth in the regular season.

After relegation from the Premier League the following year, he left for Bournemouth.

In 2021-22 on the South Coast, he secured automatic promotion as Championship runners-up, posting an impressive 25 wins from 46 league games.

A poor start to the next Premier League campaign (including a 9-0 rout by Liverpool) led to his dismissal after four matches.

Parker’s short spell at Club Brugge in early 2023 yielded just two wins in 12 games, then he returned to English football with Burnley in July 2024.

That season, 2024-25, once again finished as Championship runners-up and earned promotion. Burnley were relegated from the Premier League in 2025-26, and Parker left before the season had concluded, as outlined above.

### Premier League problem?

Across his managerial career, he has a win rate of around 40 per cent, with his Championship success standing in clear contrast to a lesser record at Premier League level.

As a former West Ham midfielder and club captain, his second-tier record makes him an obvious candidate for a promotion push.

His Premier League record is a debate for another day, but it’s only relevant if and when the Hammers return to the top flight.

In the here and now, Scott Parker’s strong Championship track record makes him a clear frontrunner for the vacant West Ham manager role, even if some fans will be holding out for a ‘statement’ appointment.
