# Lens won’t pull plug on West Ham loan deal, despite previous claim

**Lens have no plans to terminate Jean-Clair Todibo’s loan from West Ham, despite earlier reports to the contrary.**

According to Foot Mercato [via GFFN](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2026/lens-not-planning-to-terminate-loan-of-west-ham-defender-jean-clair-todibo/) on Thursday, Lens currently have no intention of ending the season-long loan of the West Ham United defender early.

Todibo joined the Ligue 1 side without an option to buy and remains under contract with the Hammers through to 2029.

The 26-year-old has made a limited impact since arriving in France in early September, featuring in only a handful of matches and has played fewer than 200 minutes.

Fitness concerns and questions over his physical condition are said to have restricted him, with the former Nice and Barcelona defender yet to complete a full 90 minutes in Ligue 1.

## West Ham in no hurry for return of Todibo

Despite criticism of his start and earlier speculation that Lens might seek to cut the arrangement short, Foot Mercato has relayed that the club is not considering an early termination.

West Ham, currently managing another [loan situation with Niclas Fullkrug](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/22/cut-run-transfer-niclas-fullkrug-west-ham-werder-bremen/), are also understood to have little interest in recalling a player who [fell out of favour under Nuno Espírito Santo](https://readwestham.com/2026/08/30/west-hams-40m-todibo-nightmare-exposed-as-nuno-fallout-sparks-exit/) and has no clear first-team pathway anytime soon.

Todibo’s loan is expected to run through the rest of the season, unless the situation changes in January.

He appears surplus to requirements in the long term at the London Stadium, but any permanent resolution of his future is most likely to wait until next summer.
