# West Ham press conference – Friday updates from Nuno

**West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has spoken ahead of the trip to take on Swansea City in Saturday’s top of the table Championship clash.**

Various updates were provided at the West Ham press conference on Friday.

Still basking in the glow of the midweek rout over Lincoln City, the confidence must inspire the players to continue the momentum with a positive result against the Swans, but this game will be a far greater test.

Nuno acknowledged this, in addition to the West Ham [team news update](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/16/nuno-update-west-ham-team-news/) that he delivered.

## Nuno press conference

Nuno Espirito Santo addressed the assembled media with the info relayed to the fans.

First hosts third in South Wales on Saturday, in the [3pm kick-off at the Swansea.com Stadium](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/16/how-to-watch-swansea-city-west-ham/).

The boss stressed the importance of carrying on from where the Hammers left off in Lincolnshire:

“It was a good and important result for us. Of course, the circumstances of the game were different, with Lincoln having two players out, but it was important for us to manage that, and I think we did.

“There were a lot of positives inside the game, and we have taken positives for the next one which was important.”

### Premier League objective

Nuno is well aware of the importance of momentum if the squad is to go all the way to seal a Premier League return:

“There is always pressure, especially because of our objective (promotion to the Premier League).

“All of the matches are really important, so it was important to get the win on Wednesday.

“Now we still want to keep building momentum, and more than anything we want to keep performing and competing well, so we can be stronger.

For us, all of the matches are must-wins, because the points mean exactly the same throughout the season. It’s always a must-win game, and that is our objective.”

### Embrace the schedule

The next encounter is never far away in this league, all part of the mammoth 46-game schedule.

Speaking at the West Ham press conference on Friday, Nuno insisted his team simply have to meet the demands, with Swansea up next:

“All the teams in the league are different, so we have to prepare as well as possible.

“When you have only two days, you have to try and help the players recover as much as possible, and there’s not much time on the grass.

“We take everything game by game, day by day. Right now, we’re focused only on Swansea, rather than looking ahead to anything else. That’s how we approach things.”

A positive result has to be the aim on Saturday, to maintain the encouraging league position at present.

It’s all about momentum.
