# Mohamadou Kanté makes West Ham hard work vow

**Mohamadou Kanté has spoken about his determination to keep contributing for West Ham United.**

The young midfielder, who has made a strong impression in the Championship this season, said he focuses on putting in the effort every day and proving the qualities he can add to the side.

Kanté, who returned from suspension to start in the [6-0 win at Lincoln City](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/14/no-mercy-west-ham-six-lincoln-city/) earlier this week, emphasised hard work as the foundation of his approach as the Hammers prepare for the top-of-the-table clash with Swansea City.

“It feels good to play,” Kanté told the [official club website](https://www.whufc.com/en/news/kante-or-i-try-to-work-hard-and-show-what-i-can-bring-to-the-team).

“I try to work hard and show what I can bring to the team.

“If the coach has confidence in me, I’m happy, and I’ll work hard every day and in every match to try to earn a spot.”

## Millwall moment for Kanté

The Millwall draw was a massive moment for Kanté, good and bad.

He came off the bench to score but was later sent off, in what will be a learning curve for the player.

“It was a very difficult moment for the team, but we managed to get a draw.

“It wasn’t the goal, but we picked up a point, and that’s what matters.

“Then there was the red card incident. I feel bad for the team about that, and I hope to move forward from it.

The 21-year-old has made a decent start to the league campaign so far.

He has been involved regularly under head coach [Nuno Espírito Santo](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/14/nuno-west-ham-warning-lincoln-clash/) following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, building on his earlier progress with the under-21s and limited top-flight exposure last term.

More progress, more learning and further development will be the aim for Kanté, as one of the younger players who can benefit from this Championship season.
