# West Ham’s Soucek scores on injury return in private friendly

Tomáš Souček scored on his return from injury as West Ham beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in a private friendly at Rush Green on Friday.

The Czech midfielder converted a penalty and played just over an hour, according to [Hammers News](https://www.hammers.news/news/tomas-soucek-scores-as-west-ham-provide-details-of-closed-door-friendly-win/), reporting details from [West Ham’s account of the game](https://www.whufc.com/en/news/hard-work-continues-at-rush-green-during-international-break).

Joël Piroe added the second against the League One visitors as Nuno Espírito Santo’s side continued preparations for their Championship return.

Souček’s appearance follows [this morning’s report that West Ham hope to include him against QPR](https://readwestham.com/2026/10/02/tomas-soucek-injury-update-west-ham-qpr-return/). The midfielder has been recovering from an ankle injury and has yet to make a competitive appearance this season.

## West Ham vs Wycombe gives Souček valuable minutes

The Hammers host QPR at London Stadium on Friday 9 October, with kick-off at 8pm BST.

Souček’s progress is particularly welcome with [Mohamadou Kanté suspended for the match](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/28/west-ham-qpr-team-news-injuries-suspensions/). His availability would give Nuno another midfield option when league football resumes.

However, completing an hour in a friendly does not confirm that Souček will start against Rangers. The earlier report suggested a substitute appearance remained possible.

The key question now is how much competitive football he is ready to play after his absence. Friday’s outing gives him match minutes before that decision, with another week separating the Wycombe game from QPR’s visit.
