# West Ham handed Soucek boost as source reveals QPR plan

West Ham are planning to include Tomáš Souček in their squad against QPR next Friday, according to a new report.

[Hammers News reports](https://www.hammers.news/news/exclusive-major-tomas-soucek-update-as-west-ham-back-hero-to-be-among-best/) that an unnamed senior club source expects the midfielder to be available for the London Stadium fixture on 9 October.

“Tomas is doing really well and the plan is he will be in the squad for QPR,” the source said.

The 31-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance this season after suffering an ankle injury at the World Cup.

The report says West Ham used the international break to give Souček additional training time, having opted against bringing him back for the Millwall match.

## Tomas Soucek injury update ahead of QPR

His potential return would strengthen Nuno Espírito Santo’s options with [Mohamadou Kanté suspended against QPR](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/28/west-ham-qpr-team-news-injuries-suspensions/).

However, the report does not establish that Souček will start. The source suggested a substitute appearance might be more likely, while leaving that decision open.

West Ham had previously been [linked with a plan to give Souček minutes in a private friendly](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/28/tomas-soucek-return-west-ham-friendly/). The latest claim gives a clearer indication of the intended next step: a competitive matchday squad.

For Nuno, having another experienced midfielder available would widen his choices while Kanté serves his ban.

Souček’s match sharpness will still matter after such a lengthy absence. A place among the substitutes would allow a gradual return if the manager decides that is the best approach.

The QPR match kicks off at 8pm BST.
