# Adama Boiro’s recent West Ham absence explained by minor injury

Adama Boiro’s recent West Ham absence has reportedly been explained by a minor injury.

The left-back made his Hammers debut from the bench in the Championship victory over Derby County on 5 September but has not featured since.

Boiro has subsequently been left out of Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad for West Ham’s recent league matches.

## Boiro dealing with minor injury

Fresh reporting from Sport Witness, citing Spanish outlet Deia, says Boiro has been struggling with a minor fitness problem.

That provides important context to his absence and suggests Nuno has not simply dropped the 24-year-old from his plans.

Boiro joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Athletic Club on Deadline Day, with the Hammers holding an option to make the transfer permanent.

## Scarles keeps West Ham place

Boiro’s absence has allowed Ollie Scarles to continue building momentum at left-back.

Boiro now has the international break to recover before West Ham return against QPR on 9 October.

His status should also be added to our [West Ham injury tracker](https://readwestham.com/west-ham-injuries/) alongside the latest updates on Joël Veltman, Alphonse Areola and Tomáš Souček.
