West Ham United Women were unable to build on last weekend’s victory as Everton left Victoria Road with a dramatic 1-0 win.
Rita Guarino’s side entered Sunday’s Women’s Super League contest hoping to secure consecutive home victories after beating London City Lionesses 2-1. Instead, a 94th-minute strike from Everton substitute Yūka Momiki proved enough to separate the teams in east London.
The defeat leaves West Ham with three points from their opening three WSL matches of the 2026/27 campaign.

West Ham Women Denied Against Everton
Guarino made one change from the side that defeated London City. Laia Codina returned to defence alongside Estelle Cascarino, while Katie Zelem again captained the side.
Our confirmed West Ham Women XI against Everton showed Kelly Gago retained her place against her former club. Gago had scored on her first West Ham start last weekend, but the Hammers struggled to convert possession into clear-cut chances against a resolute Everton defense.
Constance Picaud looked set to secure a clean sheet after denying the Toffees throughout normal time. However, deep into stoppage time, Momiki found space inside the penalty area to break West Ham hearts.
The result ends West Ham’s hopes of beginning the campaign with successive home league wins. Supporters can follow Guarino’s rebuilt squad throughout the season through our evergreen West Ham Women guide.
Tottenham Cup Tie Comes Quickly
West Ham have little time to dwell on Sunday’s setback.
Their next fixture comes away to Tottenham Hotspur in the Subway Players Cup on Wednesday, 23 September at 7:00 PM BST, as confirmed by the official West Ham fixture list.
Guarino now needs an immediate response in midweek before preparing her squad for another demanding WSL trip to face Manchester United next Sunday.
