# Millwall vs West Ham Lineups & Player Ratings: Mavropanos Stars in 2-2 Draw

West Ham United recovered from a disastrous first half to earn a 2-2 draw against Millwall at The Den.

Caleb Taylor and Camiel Neghli put the hosts two goals ahead before Nuno Espírito Santo’s changes transformed the contest.

Mohamadou Kanté dragged West Ham back into the derby with a brilliant long-range strike before Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home Manor Solomon’s delivery to equalise.

Kanté was then sent off in the closing stages after bringing down Kyrell Lisbie as the Millwall forward broke clear.

The dramatic finish followed a match in which the Hammers had to recover from one of their poorest halves of the Championship season, as covered in our [Millwall 2-2 West Ham match report](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/19/millwall-2-2-west-ham-match-report/).

Here are our West Ham player ratings.

## Mads Hermansen – 6.5

Could do little about either Millwall goal and prevented the situation becoming even worse before West Ham recovered.

The goalkeeper was required far more often than Nuno would have wanted despite the Hammers dominating possession.

A solid performance behind a defence that struggled badly during the first half.

## Kyle Walker-Peters – 4.5

A difficult return to the starting XI.

Walker-Peters had been the obvious replacement after [Joël Veltman was ruled out through injury](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/17/millwall-west-ham-team-news-injuries/), but he struggled to impose himself.

Nuno replaced him at half-time as part of the changes which altered the game.

## Konstantinos Mavropanos – 7.5

The outstanding starter.

Mavropanos was part of a defensive unit that found Millwall’s physical approach extremely difficult early on, but responded impressively.

His towering header from Solomon’s cross completed the comeback and rescued a valuable point.

Produced when West Ham desperately needed somebody to take responsibility.

## Max Kilman – 5

Never looked comfortable during Millwall’s dominant opening period.

The hosts caused repeated problems from direct balls and set-piece situations.

Improved after half-time as West Ham pushed higher and started controlling territory.

## Morato – 5.5

Another defender who had a difficult opening 45 minutes.

Millwall targeted West Ham physically and the Hammers struggled to win enough first and second balls.

Settled after the interval as the momentum changed.

## Oliver Engels – 5.5

West Ham had plenty of possession but very little control during the opening period.

Engels saw plenty of the ball without consistently turning possession into meaningful progression.

Better once Nuno’s changes gave the midfield more movement ahead of him.

## Divine Mukasa – 6

One of West Ham’s more positive performers before being substituted.

Tried to carry the ball forward and was willing to shoot when opportunities appeared.

Eventually replaced as Nuno increased the attacking pressure.

## Jarrod Bowen – 5.5

A surprisingly quiet afternoon from the captain.

Bowen entered the derby as one of West Ham’s biggest threats but struggled to influence proceedings during the periods when his side needed inspiration.

Improved late on without ever taking over the match.

## Manor Solomon – 7

Had a frustrating first half but became increasingly influential as West Ham took control.

His delivery for Mavropanos’ equaliser was excellent.

Created space before producing the cross that allowed the Greek defender to power home.

## Joel Piroe – 4.5

Found the first half extremely difficult.

West Ham selected both Piroe and Taty Castellanos in the [confirmed starting XI against Millwall](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/19/millwall-west-ham-lineups-confirmed-xi/), but the attacking partnership failed to click.

Piroe was withdrawn at half-time.

## Taty Castellanos – 5.5

Worked hard without receiving much useful service.

Had more involvement than Piroe but rarely found the type of central opportunity from which he could punish Millwall.

His afternoon also became embroiled in controversy after Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall accused him of spitting during a second-half incident, something reported by [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/4591558/millwall-west-ham-filip-marschall-taty-castellanos-spitting/?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

## Substitutes

### Mohamadou Kanté – 7.5

Produced one of the most extraordinary substitute appearances West Ham will see this season.

Kanté completely changed the energy of the midfield and drilled a superb 25-yard effort into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

He then went from comeback hero to being sent off in the 89th minute.

The midfielder lost possession as the last man before bringing down Lisbie as he raced through on goal, with the incident also recorded in [The Guardian’s live coverage](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2026/sep/19/brighton-arsenal-newcastle-hull-more-football-clockwatch-live-scores-updates?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

The red card costs him the highest rating.

### Pablo – 6.5

Gave West Ham another attacking presence after replacing Piroe.

Helped push Millwall backwards and was far more involved in the second-half performance.

### Edvin Austbø – 6

Added fresh energy after his introduction.

West Ham had already identified his return as significant after his midweek absence, and the youngster again looked willing to attack defenders.

### Lewis Orford – N/A

Introduced too late to receive a meaningful rating.
