# West Ham block Soungoutou Magassa exit as Premier League club swoops

**[West Ham United](https://readwestham.com/tag/west-ham-united/) are currently blocking [Soungoutou Magassa](https://readwestham.com/2026/08/25/west-ham-soungoutou-magassa-crystal-palace-transfer/) from leaving the club despite [Crystal Palace](https://readwestham.com/tag/crystal-palace/) showing Deadline Day interest in the midfielder.**

Magassa remains keen to secure a move away from the London Stadium before the 11pm deadline after struggling for opportunities under [Nuno Espírito Santo](https://readwestham.com/2026/08/25/nuno-espirito-santo-admits-west-ham-owe-fans-badly/).

However, West Ham have taken a firm stance over his immediate future.

[The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg reports](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2026/sep/01/football-transfer-deadline-day-fernandez-alvarez-mudryk-ndiaye-latest-news-updates?page=with:block-6a96add58f08005f2c8409dc&utm_source=chatgpt.com) that Magassa is still trying to find a route out of the club, with Crystal Palace interested, but the Hammers are **currently denying him an exit**.

## West Ham block Soungoutou Magassa transfer

The development represents another significant turn in Magassa’s future.

West Ham had previously [received formal proposals from Sevilla and Bologna](https://readwestham.com/2026/08/30/soungoutou-magassa-west-ham-exit-transfer-latest/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), with both clubs offering paid loans containing obligations to buy.

Crystal Palace had also [shown interest in Magassa earlier in the window](https://readwestham.com/2026/08/25/west-ham-soungoutou-magassa-crystal-palace-transfer/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), although there was initially no indication of an advanced move.

That has now changed.

Palace remain interested on Deadline Day and Magassa is seeking an exit, but West Ham are refusing to sanction a move at this stage.

The stance is notable given the 22-year-old has yet to play a Championship minute this season.

He did return to Nuno’s squad for the Carabao Cup victory over Southampton, but his long-term position has remained uncertain throughout the closing weeks of the window.

West Ham paid an initial fee of around **€17million** to sign Magassa from Monaco last summer and will not want to lose a young asset on unfavourable terms.

With the transfer window closing at 11pm, Palace now have only hours to change West Ham’s position if they want to take Magassa across London.
