# West Ham make surprise Roma raid after Melvin Bard snub

**[West Ham United](https://readwestham.com/tag/west-ham-united/) have launched a late Deadline Day move for Roma left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, submitting an offer to sign the 24-year-old on a season-long loan.**

[The Athletic reports that West Ham have made a formal proposal](https://x.com/TheAthleticFC) as [Nuno Espírito Santo](https://readwestham.com/tag/nuno-espirito-santo-2/) continues searching for another option on the left side of defence.

Salah-Eddine is back at Roma after spending last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

## West Ham move for Salah-Eddine

Roma originally [signed Salah-Eddine permanently from FC Twente in February 2025](https://www.asroma.com/en/news/72754/anass-salah-eddine-joins-roma) before sending him to PSV six months later.

The Dutch champions held an €8million option to buy, but [Fabrizio Romano reported that the move did not become permanent after PSV failed to agree terms with the player](https://t.me/s/fabrizioromanotg?before=60724).

That has opened the door for another loan.

West Ham’s interest comes after [Melvin Bard chose Leeds despite an offer from the Hammers](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/01/west-ham-melvin-bard-leeds-transfer-snub/) and Torino were told [Ollie Scarles would not be allowed to leave](https://readwestham.com/2026/09/01/west-ham-ollie-scarles-torino-transfer-approach/).

No agreement with Roma has been reported yet.

But with a formal loan offer now submitted, **West Ham have opened another route to solving Nuno’s left-back problem before tonight’s 11pm deadline.**
