# West Ham urged to make stunning Paul Pogba move as Monaco exit looms

**West Ham United have been urged to make a stunning move for Paul Pogba, with Carlton Cole backing his former club to take a chance on the midfielder if he becomes available on a free transfer.**

Pogba could leave Monaco by mutual consent this summer after a frustrating spell in France, potentially opening the door to another move at the age of 33.

West Ham are already looking to strengthen Nuno Espírito Santo’s midfield. Cole believes Pogba could represent a far more dramatic option.

## Carlton Cole backs stunning Paul Pogba West Ham move

Speaking to talkSPORT, Cole was asked whether he would take Pogba at West Ham if the opportunity emerged.

The former Hammers striker acknowledged that dropping into the Championship could prove a difficult sell for a player of Pogba’s profile, but ultimately said: **“Yeah, I would take him.”**

Cole added that West Ham would need to establish Pogba’s motivation and fitness before committing to any agreement.

The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder has struggled for regular football at Monaco, managing only 115 minutes as injuries and fitness problems disrupted his return to action.

That makes any deal a significant gamble, particularly with West Ham preparing for the physical demands of a 46-game Championship season.

At his best, however, Pogba would bring a level of technical ability and experience rarely seen in the division. He has won the World Cup with France and major trophies with Juventus and Manchester United.

There is currently **no indication that West Ham have contacted Pogba or opened negotiations**.

Cole’s comments nevertheless create an intriguing possibility as Nuno continues looking for midfield additions before the transfer window closes.
