# West Ham supporters’ team celebrates memorable season

**The Trans Pennine Irons football team have celebrated another season of growth after representing West Ham United across the United Kingdom and Europe.**

Formed by members of the official supporters’ club in 2024, the team finished runners-up in their league during their first full campaign. They also reached the IFA tournament quarter-finals and the semi-finals of the Plate competition.

## Trans Pennine Irons continue rapid growth

The team’s season also included an appearance at London Stadium through the BOYLE Sports Play on the Pitch experience.

Player-manager Damian Locke described the opportunity to represent West Ham at the club’s home as a “dream come true”.

“Finishing second in the league was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved,” Locke told [West Ham’s official website](https://www.whufc.com/en/news/trans-pennine-irons-celebrate-growth-of-football-team-after-another-memorable-season).

“Being able to enter two teams into the competition shows how much we have grown since we started.”

The IFA tournament brought together supporters’ teams from across Britain and Europe. Trans Pennine Irons renewed their close relationship with RC Lens supporters, who backed the Hammers during their matches.

Locke believes those connections have become as important as the results. The team has brought together West Ham supporters living across northern England and created opportunities for fans to play in the club’s colours.

The group was originally founded as the Northern Hammers in 1993 and now helps supporters across the Trans-Pennine area with travel and ticket information.

Their progress reflects the wider commitment West Ham continue to receive away from east London. [ReadWestHam highlighted the club’s travelling support](https://readwestham.com/2026/07/27/sloppy-and-slow-jarrod-bowen-delivers-honest-west-ham-verdict/) after around 2,600 fans attended the recent friendly against Rangers at Ibrox.

Trans Pennine Irons now want to expand the squad and give more supporters the opportunity to represent the club.
