# West Ham make lesser-known loanee permanent

- **West Ham need to raise £150 million this summer**
- **It has not stopped them making Keiber Lamadrid’s loan spell permanent**
- **The 22-year-old made one appearance for the Hammers last season**

West Ham United are preparing for life in the Championship and have made their first signing of the summer after Premier League relegation.

According to [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7307074/2026/06/05/west-ham-transfers-fernandes-peck-kante/), the Hammers have activated the buy option in Keiber Lamadrid’s loan deal. The winger has not joined [West](https://whufc.com/en)[H](https://whufc.com/en)[am](https://whufc.com/en) permanently for a fee said to be around £1 million.

The 22-year-old spent much of last season with the under-21’s, but did make a handful of appearances on the bench. Lamadrid’s sole appearance for the [Hammers](https://readwestham.com/2026/06/05/graham-potter-reflects-west-ham-failure-world-cup/) came in the FA Cup tie with Burton Albion, where Venezuelan played 72 minutes.

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/) had always seen the young winger as one for the future but were not expected to activate their buy clause considering the financial situation at the club.

[The Irons have to raise around £150 million this summer](https://readwestham.com/2026/06/05/west-ham-aaron-wan-bissaka-fenerbahce-plan/) and are expected to do so by selling a number of first-team stars. [Mateus Fernandes](https://readwestham.com/2026/06/03/west-ham-dubious-manchester-united-can-afford-mateus-fernandes/) and [Crysencio Summerville](https://readwestham.com/2026/06/04/west-ham-crysencio-summerville-draws-ac-milan-interest/) will leave, with the Hammers hoping they can raise a significant number from the two players.

The club were not expected to make any signings until sales were made, making Lamadrid’s permanent signing somewhat of a surprise.
