# West Ham could be a “platform” for Edson Alvarez

West Ham United could prove to be “a really good platform” for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.

That is according to transfer insider [Dean Jones](https://www.givemesport.com/88077119-west-ham-can-be-perfect-for-43m-star-at-london-stadium), who has informed [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88077119-west-ham-can-be-perfect-for-43m-star-at-london-stadium) of the latest news surrounding the Mexico international.

The insider believes that a switch to the London Stadium could be “perfect” for Alvarez, in a move that would be of equal benefit to the Hammers.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones [said](https://www.givemesport.com/88077119-west-ham-can-be-perfect-for-43m-star-at-london-stadium): *“I don’t think anyone has been quite convinced yet that he could make the difference to them in terms of making Champions League football.*

*“So, finding one of those clubs just beneath that, someone like West Ham, can be perfect for him and might actually be a really good platform.”*

## **Moyes’ £43m dream**

The signing of Alvarez, whether or not skipper [Declan Rice](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12611298/declan-rice-rejects-west-ham-offer-of-eight-year-deal-worth-83m-but-club-determined-to-keep-midfielder) stays at the club, would no doubt bolster the Hammers in the midfield ranks.

In the [£43million](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11166251/Chelsea-make-43m-bid-Ajaxs-Edson-Alvarez-dutch-reluctant-lose-midfielder.html) Mexican we are looking at an indispensable and progressive midfield pivot who shines in both sides of the game.

With his progressiveness in such a role for Ajax, you get the impression that a switch to a side that makes use of a double-pivot set-up, in the way that David Moyes does, would make him somewhat of a dream signing for the 59-year-old.

Averaging [3.5 accurate long balls](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/8593/stats/ajax/players), [3.5 clearances](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/8593/stats/ajax/players) and [1.5 successful tackles per 90,](https://www.fotmob.com/teams/8593/stats/ajax/players) Alvarez has shone in all aspects of the Eredivisie campaign so far and would suit the Hammers down to a tee.

This is a move that the club should be looking to action in the short-term.
