# Virals: West Ham make ‘offer’ to sign Dejan Lovren

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/28/virals-west-ham-linked-stars-set-to-depart-real-madrid/) have reportedly made an ‘offer’ to sign Zenit St. Petersburg defender [Dejan Lovren](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/16/pundit-backs-west-ham-to-complete-massive-dejan-lovren-signing/).

The 32-year-old has been plying his trade in the Russian Premier League following a £10.9million switch from Liverpool in 2020 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53556646)).

Now the experienced Croatian could be on the move once again as tensions in Russia and Ukraine have [allowed](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/mar/08/fifa-deal-foreign-players-leave-russian-clubs-criticised-fifpro-too-timid) for out of window transfer moves.

According to a report from [Tuttomercatoweb](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/calcio-estero/zenit-lovren-verso-la-risoluzione-sul-croato-ci-sono-west-ham-e-dinamo-zagabria-1663253), as cited by [Talkin West Ham #GSBOUT](https://twitter.com/TalkinWestHam) on Twitter, the Hammers could look to bring Lovren to east London.

The report claims that the [70-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-lovren/leistungsdaten/spieler/37838) ace is considering ‘terminating’ a deal with Zenit amidst the trouble and has ‘received an offer’ from West Ham.

So far this season Lovren – who was [described](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6403401/Hes-centre-half-Dejan-Lovren-praised-none-Gary-Neville.html) as a ‘top’ central defender by Gary Neville – has made [19 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-lovren/leistungsdaten/spieler/37838) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £6.30million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-lovren/marktwertverlauf/spieler/37838)), signing the Croatian for nothing would be a smart move by the club.

Albeit often the fall guy at Liverpool, there can be no denying the defender’s [calibre](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dejan-lovren/erfolge/spieler/37838) and indeed quality.

David Moyes has a penchant for [vastly experienced operators](https://www.whufc.com/players/713) in the defensive line and Lovren would therefore be a welcome addition.

In terms of a deal, this is likely to wait until the summer after the Premier League [blocked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11708/12575394/victor-moses-premier-league-blocks-burnleys-bid-to-bring-spartak-moscow-player-back-from-russia) an attempt from Burnley to sign Victor Moses.
