[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/22/pundit-believes-west-ham-have-missed-a-trick-this-season/) have been named among the clubs who sent scouts to watch Nottingham Forest defender [Joe Worrall](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/21/pundit-urges-west-ham-to-make-no-risk-swoop-for-efl-star-joe-worrall/).

The 25 year old impressed as the [Championship playoff chasers](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) matched Premier League title contenders Liverpool for the most part in their FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

Despite being eliminated from the competition, Forest were close to causing yet another upset having already [eliminated Leicester City and Arsenal](https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/football-news/nottingham-forest-championship-liverpool-cup-6838634) en route to the last eight.

According to a report from the [Sunday Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/?_ga=2.141677303.433339867.1647931842-1537486511.1588352392), as cited elsewhere by [Callum Castel-Nuovo](https://twitter.com/callumcasteln/status/1505925587482947588) on Twitter, the Hammers were watching on.

So far this season Worrall – [hailed](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/11480638/steven-gerrard-praises-joe-worrall-as-rangers-seek-defender) as a ‘fantastic player’ by Steven Gerrard – has earned an impressive [7.06 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/joe-worrall/838399) from 29 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £3.6million and under contract in the Midlands until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-worrall/marktwertverlauf/spieler/415970)), signing the English defender would be an affordable venture for any club this summer.

David Moyes is certainly going to be in the market for a centre-back this summer after the [long term injury suffered](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12473330/angelo-ogbonna-west-ham-defender-undergoes-knee-surgery-after-damaging-acl#:~:text=Angelo%20Ogbonna%20has%20undergone%20surgery,prior%20to%20the%20international%20break.) by Angelo Ogbonna.

A player on the rise and a boost to the homegrown quota, adding Worrall to the [ranks](https://www.whufc.com/players/713) at the London Stadium would be a smart move.
