# Virals: West Ham preparing ‘fresh move’ for EPL star Kalvin Phillips

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/21/opinion-said-benrahma-was-the-pick-of-the-bunch-in-damaging-epl-defeat/) are reportedly preparing to make a ‘fresh move’ for Leeds United midfielder [Kalvin Phillips](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/04/pundit-claims-west-ham-target-will-choose-move-to-proper-top-four-club/) in the summer transfer window.

This comes after the Hammers made a [late attempt](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/29/west-ham-leeds-reject-raphinha-bid) to bring the 26-year-old to the London Stadium during January.

Now it would appear that the [England international](https://www.sofascore.com/player/kalvin-phillips/786028) remains on the radar at the club and a big-money swoop could be forthcoming.

That’s according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-line-up-enormous-kalvin-phillips-offer/), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1505825241196552195).

The report claims that the Irons are ‘planning to offer an enormous salary’ to the [19-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/nationalmannschaft/spieler/351749/verein_id/3299) ace as well as in excess of a £50million transfer fee.

So far this season Phillips – [hailed](https://talksport.com/football/894698/kalvin-phillips-jose-mourinho-england-croatia-leeds/) as ‘fantastic’ by Jose Mourinho – has [scored once and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/351749) in just 15 appearances having missed 17 fixtures through injury.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £36million and under contract at Elland Road until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/351749)), signing the midfield for anything close to the mooted £60-70million valuation would be a huge outlay.

David Moyes already has Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in the [defensive midfield department](https://www.whufc.com/players/713), making the need for an addition much less imperative.

However, should [relegation-threatened](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) Leeds drop to the Championship then the asking price is likely to plummet and West Ham could then swoop.
