# Virals: West Ham star Manuel Lanzini ‘feeding’ possible return to River Plate

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/15/virals-lesser-seen-west-ham-duo-in-line-for-uel-action/) midfielder [Manuel Lanzini](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/17/robbie-keane-lauds-unbelievable-technique-of-west-ham-ace-manuel-lanzini/) is reportedly ‘feeding’ the possibility of making a return to River Plate.

The 29-year-old ace is believed to be on the radar of the Argentinian [table topping side](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/argentine-primera-division/table) every summer and the upcoming transfer market is expected to be no different.

Having previously appeared on [89 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/135853) for River, Lanzini has admitted a desire to return to the club one day.

According to a report from [La Pagina Millonaria](https://lapaginamillonaria.com/riverplate/Lanzini-vuelve-a-River-20220314-0008.html), a recent meeting between the Argentine and the club’s vice-president Matian Patanian has sparked hope of an impending reunion.

The report claims that whilst a deal is ‘quite difficult’ to achieve, there is hope that River could take the [five-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/nationalmannschaft/spieler/135853/verein_id/3437) ace back.

So far this season Lanzini – [hailed](https://www.skysports.com/) as ‘class’ by Martin Tyler – has [scored six times and registered three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/leistungsdaten/spieler/135853) in 34 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £9million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/marktwertverlauf/spieler/135853)), the so-called ‘prodigal son’ could depart for a small fee in the not too distant future.

However, having been somewhat [reborn under David Moyes](https://www.sofascore.com/player/manuel-lanzini/220315) in recent months, it seems unlikely that the Irons would sanction a cheap departure this summer.

Whilst the reunion seems inevitable, it may have to wait until next year to become a reality.
