# Virals: West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen a ‘major doubt’ for England call-up

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/15/virals-lesser-seen-west-ham-duo-in-line-for-uel-action/) forward [Jarrod Bowen](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/09/pundit-says-west-ham-will-be-delighted-by-massive-jarrod-bowen-injury-news/) is reportedly a ‘major doubt’ for an England call-up due to a heel injury.

Initially, it had been hoped that the 25-year-old would be available for the Three Lions after scans revealed [no serious issues](https://www.claretandhugh.info/bowens-second-scan-result-revealed/) for the forward.

However, it is now feared that Bowen will miss out on selection for the [squad](https://www.englandfootball.com/mens-senior-team/fixtures-results) to face Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

That’s according to a report from the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/jarrod-bowen-injury-west-ham-england-b988150.html), as cited by [Jack Rosser](https://twitter.com/JackRosser_/status/1503703778146635782) on Twitter.

The report claims that the Hereford-born winger’s ‘hopes of a first England call-up are in doubt’ having been in [superb form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jarrod-bowen/552884) this season.

Prior to this setback, Bowen had [scored 12 times and provided 11 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdaten/spieler/314875) in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

A huge blow.

Few players were are [more deserving of an England opportunity](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/england/premier-league/17) than Bowen this term.

Uncapped at any level for the national team, the [£31.5million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/314875) man would’ve been hoping for a chance to shine ahead of the World Cup later in the year.

Hopefully, for West Ham and England reasons the [dynamic ace](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/Show/Jarrod-Bowen) can make a prompt return to fitness.
