# Virals: West Ham hold ‘preliminary discussions’ to sign Boubacar Kamara

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/08/virals-west-ham-hopeful-key-duo-will-be-available-for-uel-clash/) have reportedly held ‘preliminary discussions’ with the agent of Marseille midfielder [Boubacar Kamara](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/18/virals-west-ham-can-reach-agreement-for-marseille-ace-boubacar-kamara/).

The Hammers have been [heavily linked](https://twitter.com/ThePalaceWay/status/1500430158850887682) with the 22-year-old previously and it would appear that the interest remains strong.

Perhaps unsurprisingly the main competitions for the starlet’s signature are seemingly [mega-rich](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc-takeover) Newcastle United.

According to a report from the [Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19976493.newcastle-talks-matt-targett-boubacar-kamara/), the Irons are still in the mix to land the talented French youth international.

The report states that Newcastle face ‘fierce competition’ for the [nine-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/nationalmannschaft/spieler/394327/verein_id/9323) under 21 ace who is likely to be ‘one of the most highly sought-after players in Europe’ in the summer.

So far this season Kamara – hailed as a [‘phenomenon’](https://en.africatopsports.com/2020/05/30/marseille-rolando-praises-qualities-of-boubacar-kamara/) by Rolando – has earned a [7.07 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/boubacar-kamara/826204) from 23 Ligue 1 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and out of contract in June ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/marktwertverlauf/spieler/394327)), signing the youngster for free this summer would be an outstanding piece of business.

Boasting a range of [excellent attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/331790/Show/Boubacar-Kamara) that make the Frenchman an ideal midfielder for David Moyes’ side, this is a bargain waiting to happen for someone.

With current loanee Alex Kral [unlikely to be signed](https://www.footmercato.net/a6515294582145791028-west-ham-alex-kral-dans-les-petits-papiers-de-montpellier) on a permanent, West Ham should be going all out to bring Kamara to the London Stadium.
