# Virals: West Ham make ‘concrete contacts’ to sign Gerard Deulofeu

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/07/virals-ligue-1-club-interested-in-west-ham-loan-ace-alex-kral/) have reportedly made ‘concrete contacts’ to sign Udinese attacking midfielder Gerard Deulofeu.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a rejuvenating spell in Italy following an [inconsistent time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/129476) at Watford previously.

Now back [performing](https://www.sofascore.com/player/gerard-deulofeu/96372) on the big stage, the former Barcelona man could be on the move once more.

According to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/udinese-pretendente-inglese-per-deulofeu-82004), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1500828259738546176) on Twitter, the Hammers are keen on bringing the Spaniard back to the Premier League.

The report claims that the East London club are ‘ready’ to bring the [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/nationalmannschaft/spieler/129476/verein_id/3375) Spain ace back to England.

This season Deulofeu – once hailed as a [‘special talent’](https://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/everton-boss-lauds-former-barcelona-loanee-deulofeu-4026838) by Roberto Martinez – has [scored eight times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/leistungsdaten/spieler/129476) in 24 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £9million and under contract in Italy until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/129476)), signing the Spaniard would likely be a relatively inexpensive move – albeit the report makes no mention of a fee.

Capable of [playing across the front three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gerard-deulofeu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/129476), Deulofeu would be a superb addition to David Moyes’ squad having earned his stripes across various clubs.

Boasting a [plethora](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/98317/Show/Gerard-Deulofeu) of impressive attributes, at the right price this would certainly be a move worth exploring for West Ham.
