# Virals: West Ham ‘monitoring’ Nottingham Forest starlet Brennan Johnson

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/03/02/rio-ferdinand-reveals-love-for-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) are reportedly ‘monitoring’ Nottingham Forest attacker [Brennan Johnson](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/22/virals-west-ham-keeping-tabs-on-efl-starlet-brennan-johnson/) ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Hammes are believed to be keen on the 20-year-old [alongside interest](https://twitter.com/james_sivakumar/status/1497175039468318721) from Premier League rivals Leeds United and Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Amidst the speculation, Forest had opened talks with the [exciting](https://www.sofascore.com/player/brennan-johnson/1085180) Wales international over a new contract but those discussions would appear to have stalled.

That’s according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-significant-update-on-leeds-united-forest-johnson/), claiming that Johnson is in ‘no rush’ to sign a new deal with the Championship club.

The report states that the [seven-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/nationalmannschaft/spieler/470607/verein_id/3864) attacker ‘wants to see what other offers come in’ at the end of the season before committing.

So far this season the youngster hailed a [‘livewire’](https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/football-news/brennan-johnson-wales-forest-finland-5860190) by Rob Page has [scored 11 times and provided five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/leistungsdaten/spieler/470607) in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £900,000 and under contract at the City Ground until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/470607)), the £19million [mooted asking price](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10441657/Brentford-make-IMPROVED-offer-Nottingham-Forest-winger-Brennan-Johnson.html#:~:text=Brentford%20have%20made%20an%20improved,number%20of%20Premier%20League%20clubs.) would appear to be on the ambitious side for a player unproven in the top flight.

Having said that, Johnson is undoubtedly a [superb talent](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/379688/Show/Brennan-Johnson) with a bright future in the game. One David Moyes would love to add to the ranks in East London.

At the right fee, the [versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470607) Welshman would certainly be a worthwhile addition to the squad.
